Happy Monday all! Today, we have a new destination wedding video for you guys that took place at the Bentley Reserve in San Francisco. With their wedding program consisting of three days, there was so much detail involved. From the outfits to their ceremony, there was so much visual appeal. Complete color and pattern overload might I add!

I do have to admit that their Baraat was pretty awesome due to all the energy there was. How awesome is it anyway to be in a procession with drummer in front, followed by groom mounted on horse and a mass of wedding guests on the streets of San Francisco. So cool!

A little over a year ago, Jess and Alex got in touch with us regarding shooting her wedding. One little catch though, they weren’t engaged yet. Pretty funny in my opinion, but totally said something to us. To be honest, we were humbled by this. Email followed by an eventual Skype call and we instantly knew that we had to capture these two on their wedding day. We clicked so well that it felt like we were reconnecting with old friends.

A little over twelve months later and we’re in Santa Ynez documenting one of the most important days of their lives. Despite the fact that we didn’t get to hang out prior to their wedding weekend, things just felt so natural capturing them. In a sense they carried an aura of some sort that just made you smile and made you feel welcome. And in all honesty, this weekend was just another reason why these two were meant to be.

I really can’t express how lucky you both are to have each other. You both are amazing and thank you so much for letting us be a part of your day.

Quick note to all who weren’t there the night of, the film was originally meant to be a next day edit due to the tight schedule, but we couldn’t hold the excitement and decided midday that we had to share their story that night. Thank you Wenda at Always Perpekto for arranging this with us. Always a pleasure working with you and your team!

About a year ago, we connected with Dimitry through a close friend of ours. Dimitry had seen a few of our same day edits and became interested. We made the trek from Corona to LA to have coffee with them and the rest was history.

Both of them shared a little of their backstory and immediately we became interested. I could tell you guys what they shared, but then that would ruin the film. Fast forward to their wedding day, there was so much detail and character to it. We love, love, love couples who inject bits and pieces of their personality into their wedding day. To the point where you show up as a guest and you’re able to read who they are as individuals and as a couple.

With all the relevant details, I do have to say that the one thing that stuck out to me was what Dimitry had told me shortly after wrapping up his vows. He said, “If you can’t express your feelings to someone, then you aren’t living life.” So true on all levels, I have to add. With that in mind, enjoy their film.

Also kudos to Amber Cowell of Jesi Haack Design for coordinating such an awesome celebration and to Brett from Smog Shoppe for working with us on the same day edit premiere. Brett & Jess, it was a pleasure shooting with you guys as well! Safe travels back!

About two years ago, Dre was at a wedding of ours. In fact, he was one of the two best men and two be honest it was just altogether hilarious covering the guys that day. Right after we had premiered the same day edit, Dre approached me and said, “I want to get married so you guys can film my wedding.” Pretty hilarious, right?

At the time, he hadn’t proposed yet so it was obviously still a premature idea. About one year later, that idea became reality. Dre had proposed to now his lovely wife, Kim. He got in touch with me way ahead of time and basically wanted to move forward. We skyped with him and Kim, listened to their story, and it was all greenlight.

It was such fun covering him and the entire group again. We couldn’t be more happier for you guys.

When Ngoc first approached me about this project, it was about four months ago at her “Love is in the Air” bridal event. We got to chat for a little about this journey she had embarked on about three years ago and after hearing the back story on all of this, I just knew that this was a story that we had to tell for her.

What spoke to me was the idea that if you truly wanted do something, you could do it. Ngoc shared her mentality of this and I immediately connected with what she was saying (About three years ago, Rainbowfish was a new venture that Kenny and I decided to take a chance with.) Ngoc and I have had numerous conversations about this, but it’s all about knowing that anything is possible. As cliche as it sounds, it really is the truth.

Three years ago late at night, she told her boyfriend at the time, now husband, that she was going to write a book. On the 14th of June, she released her very first one called Inspired Celebrations. The accomplishment is definitely an achievement and we couldn’t be more happy for her and what’s to come.

A little side note on this film, part of it was shot in Dallas with her publishing company and part of it in California. To top it off, we were at her release party and incorporated some of that to wrap up the film. We premiered that night and couldn’t have been more happy to.

This truly is the story of boy meets girl. The story of a boy’s crush developing into a love like no other that would eventually win over the girl that he’d known forever and wanted to ultimately be with.

You see Patrick first met Soratha in elementary school. This first meeting obviously didn’t turn out as Patrick had expected, but with a little persistence and some sand in his hair he won Soratha over. It’s kind of crazy how these things play out, but it just goes to show that if you really want something you can make it happen.

Fast forward to their two day wedding with over five ceremonies, it became more obvious why they were getting married and why Soratha eventually gave in to Patrick. As I covered Soratha, it was so touching to see Patrick pop in occasionally and check up on his wife to be. Their days were so packed with events that he would check up on her and bring her food just to make sure she was alright. In my eyes, their story played out to be them working together hand in hand in making it through the two filled days down to their American ceremony at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden at Long Beach State.

They truly are meant to be and they both deserve one another. Soratha was so patient and understanding with me that I came to understand why Pat fell in love with her. With Pat, it was the case of nice guy finishing first.

I have to admit that while shooting one of his sequences I’d almost shed a tear. That sequence obviously made the same day edit and I’m sure you guys won’t have any difficulty figuring out which part.

So a couple of months ago, some friends of ours had reached out to us about working with them on a personal project of theirs. About nine months prior, they had the experience of having their first child, a little baby boy who they came to name Cameron. Naturally one of the first things we asked Caroline and Jonathan was how they selected his name.

Originally Caroline had suggested Cannon, but maybe without the second “n” making it Canon. Jonathan replied back to her saying, “you mean like the camera, Canon?” Unknowingly, the name had just stuck out to her and they kind of laughed at it. She then threw out the name Cameron, and Jonathan responded with, “you mean like camera?” Fast forward to checking out of the hospital, they were told that naming him at that point would make things a lot easier for them and they picked the winner, Cameron. Significance of this, is that Caroline is an awesome photographer. Yes, we’re referring to Caroline Tran. If you haven’t seen her work, which we doubt, you guys definitely have to check out her work at www.carolinetran.net.

Shooting over the course of five days allowed us to really get down in trying to dig for the moments that Caroline and Jonathan would appreciate. It was definitely a challenge compared to weddings because with Cameron barely turning one, things were really unpredictable in terms of what we would be able to capture. The best we could do was to try to anticipate things and make sure the camera was rolling. In the end, it’s safe to say that we were able to get some of those moments. My personal fave was when he was chewing on a carrot and decided to spray out of nowhere. What made it so cute was his smile afterwards and him thinking it was hilarious. We’d be crazy not to admit that luck played a big part in capturing these moments. We’re just glad that we were able to because it was what meant most to us. We went in knowing that we wanted to capture something personal and something that Caroline, Jonathan, and Cameron would be able to look back at 20 years down the line from now.

Kenny just came across some old family films that he had discovered of his family and expressed how gratifying it was to be able to look back at. As for me, I haven’t been able to dig up anything like it which is a total bummer. I think realizing these things really pushed us with this film. Obviously, Caroline and Jonathan were a huge of part of this due to the fact of how open they were in sharing with us. And with that, we want to say thank you for letting us be a part of Cameron’s life in this little way!

With that in mind, today is officially Cameron’s birthday, so happy happy birthday to you little man! You gotta monster of an appetite in that little body of yours. Just stay away from the bittermelon…That stuff isn’t really good! Haha.

So for us it’s all about making that connection with our couples from the very get-go. Weird as it sounds, our consultation meetings almost seem like first dates because our heads are filled with anticipation and anxiousness. More importantly, will we be able to vibe with them and vice versa.

With Angela and Daryl, it was definitely a match made in heaven(smiling). We remember meeting up with them one evening and talking for more than hour and even getting kicked out of the random spot we mutually agreed to meet at. We obviously learned about how they met and we filled them in on the story of Rainbowfish. Going back and forth, and learning about each other was just so seamless. Daryl being an MC and Angela, an apparel/graphics designer, creativity was something they were totally filled with. They both clued us in on the little details that they were looking forward to and the weekend fun that was going to go down at Condor’s Nest Ranch (Love this place by the way!). They talked about the idea of doing their vows, but Pinky wasn’t sure if she could do them. In fact, Daryl was all for it! Love it! I think with a little convincing from us and ultimately Daryl’s willingness, it was definitely a challenge she was going to take on. Might we add, she did really well! Kudos Pinky! Cake right? =)

We hope you guys had fun with us that day as it was every bit of what we expected based on what you guys had described to us when we first met. You guys rocked it with style and I don’t think anyone could deny that! Thank you for having us be a part of your dream team. Thanks also to the Mango Red guys. Total pleasure working with you guys. Well we’ve known Fredalyn and Ken for a little while now and their wedding day was just something inevitable. In fact, they had already begun talking to us about their wedding while we were filming April + Joe in Bali. Details were still a little vague, but we knew that we’d be sharing their special day with them.

The ironic part of them telling us about their wedding was that it seemed as if they were married already. Just seeing them around and hanging out with them, the way they appeared together and their interaction with one another totally made it appear as if they were married. It was hard not to notice that connection between the two of them. That was especially obvious in their first kiss and you guys will see that.

In regards to their day, it was interesting to get all the significant details of what was going on and what was relevant to their day. We both spoke to Fred and Ken about that prior and I think you guys will agree that we were able to incorporate bit of what they had filled us in with.

Altogether, we can’t express how happy we are for the both of you. You guys were meant to be and nothing will ever change that. Thank you for being such great friends and letting us capture you guys on one of your most special days.

I’m a little late to blog this, but last week we were surprisingly informed of some great news. Drum roll please…Rainbowfish took Bronze at the WEVA 2011 CEAs! Our pre-wedding introduction film for Jo Anne & Noel got it’s first taste of taking honors at the annual international competition!

Although things keep moving forward, we have to admit it feels great to be recognized in a competition where a lot of people we’ve been inspired by have taken honors…cough, cough…Mr. Gold himself from the Philippines, Jason Magbanua. With a little over a year under our belts, we totally didn’t expect anything. We’ll take the bronze though! =) Thanks to those who have inspired us. You guys push us to progress forward. Also to another WEVA winner Loyd Calomay for the heads up on our win! Always good to hear from you!

Last but not least, Jo Anne and Noel! Thank you so much for being a part of this and entrusting us to capture your story. Being one of our very first couples, it wholeheartedly meant a lot to us and will always be that way. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
